For many fighting Nature and the effects of aging, over the counter creams and medications don’t provide the desired effect. The more painful surgical option is the face lift which literally stretches the skin, and trims off the excess to provide the look you are going for. However, it is a much more painful and much more expensive option that requires a lot of time to heal. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, can add volume and fill in the wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. Dermal Fillers are basically substances that are injected below the surface of the skin to fill in lines, wrinkles, and scars. The most common areas treated with fillers are the smile lines around the nose and mouth, the fine lines above the mouth, the frown lines between the eyes, and acne scars.
If and when considering dermal fillers, it is important to remember that there are two different classes of dermal fillers. One of the classes is Permanent and the other is temporary. Whichever one you choose is p to you. Sometimes people choose to start with the temporary dermal filler to get an idea of how it will change their appearance before making the commitment to go with the permanent filler. Overall, there is one major type of dermal filler in use today and that is silicone. It has a permanent effect and does make a great change in your appearance. When it comes to the temporary fillers, since it is more common to begin with these, there are many types and varieties available that can all produce the desired effect. Some of the major things they use to help produce this effect are hyaluronic acid, fat, and collagen. Since these are temporary fillers, they are absorbed by the body over time, and usually within in 2-6 months they will require repeated treatments to maintain the effect.
