The preventative side of dentistry
Despite what people might think, dentists do not enjoy carrying out uncomfortable procedures on their patients, though it does keep their business running and a dental guide to practice sales search from going up. Most Nottingham dentists would vastly prefer to spend their days giving out advice which means people take better care of their teeth rather than performing treatments which could have been avoided.
Much of dentistry is preventative as well as the repairs side of things. Advising on brushing and toothpaste, diet and oral hygiene routine can be very rewarding for a dentist as they see a client walking away happy and with (if they follow that advice) much healthier teeth to look forward to.
Dentists aren’t eager to carry out extensive repairs like cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/root-canal.html, they would much rather not see mouths full of decayed, diseased teeth on a day to day basis. With the increase in cosmetic dentistry the old argument some people used that it kept them in business when people had bad teeth just simply isn’t true. No dentists wants to be performing a tooth extraction on a patient when instead they could be doing something like whitening or straightening their teeth, allowing someone to leave their surgery with more confidence and a nicer smile rather than fixing a self inflicted problem.
So please, follow your dentist’s advice, they know what they’re talking about and there is no longer any silly argument to make that they have an interest in seeing your teeth fall out, they are professional care providers, not characters from the film Marathon Man.
