Dentures

Maintaining Your Smile

So many believe that if a denture is broken, it must be replaced, causing them to spend far more than necessary by buying them multiple times over. This is not the case. Unlike your natural teeth, dentures are not as resilient and can be broken by making unwise food decisions. While intended to give you back a normal eating lifestyle, there are still some foods that may pose more of an obstacle than others, so be sure to know which foods to avoid.

Even with taking careful precautions, like your teeth, your dentures require constant upkeep and can be broken and damaged if not properly cared for. Luckily, most forms of damage your dentures may sustain can be relatively easily fixed. Some fixes can even be done at home using a denture repair kit, although this may give you a result of mismatched tooth colouring, as most kits come with one standard colour. It can, however, be a good temporary solution until you can get to your dentist for a full repair. Full repairs can take time to complete, as most dental offices do not provide these services within, they generally need to send your dentures off to be fixed. It is important to have a temporary set for times such as this.

Repairing dentures can be costly, but by comparison, much less expensive than replacement. Looking into the costs for repair ahead of time is a very smart way to go. You wouldn’t just go to any random dentist without first researching their reputation and experience, this should be no exception.
